The Johnson PO 15 was made for about 10 years, I think. Is it the exact same motor all those years? I’ve been wrestling with a 1940 for a couple of months. Now it’s become clear to me that the top bushing the crankshaft rides in is spinning. I have a 1947 parts motor that seems to have a good powerhead. Aside from the green paint, is it the exact same rig? I was kind of excited to be working on the first year model but it might be time for plan B, or C, or D.

The upside of all of this is the support I’ve received from friends and club members helping me find parts as I try to rescue this beast. Also, I seem to learn a lot more when I hit the curb on these projects. On the other hand, it’s been along winter and I want a ride out of this project when the ponds thaw.

Since no one else has chimed in,my in-expert opinion is that they are the same.I think the only difference is that the 1940-41 had no spark plug covers.
