" First shot most of the spray backed up around my wand. I kept spraying and observing until I determined I had good flow thru the three
little holes by the throttle plate."

is it possible you actually push any crud inside the idle chamber with your wd40 wand??

if the juice sprayed back maybe the passage to the idle chamber was plugged and you pushed it in the chamber .. wher teh crud now impedes fuel flow in the idle cct .

have you ever pulled the dime size plug to "look inside " the idle drip chamber ?

OK, well will it idle OK with the silencer back off the engine?
I’m thinking you did not get all the crud out of the carb, and more of it has moved around restricting fuel flow.
A nozzle gasket problem would be evident at higher speeds, when the engine could run rich due to the extra fuel being drawn in, low speed would not be affected much.
Have you gotten that nozzle out, or did you just soak it? I would work at getting that nozzle out, along with the lead shots, and check clean the low speed circuit completely…

Fleetwin, I did get the nozzle out previously, using a bottle torch
and vise grips. While not pretty, the nozzle wasn’t functionally
damaged removing it. Inside the carb body nozzle cavity,
there was a tiny hole drilled in the side, and this fuel circuit
appeared to go up to the low speed needle cavity.
After drilling out the brass plug,I was able to probe with a
wire, and seen that I removed "crud" from the passage.
It runs great now, with the silencer and it’s screen in place!

          Prepare to be boarded!

Cool! Glad it is resolved. D
