      This was advertised as an " Old Outboard".
      Make, Model and approximate year appreciated.
      If I had one guess, perhaps late 40’s, early 50’s
      Champion.

            Looks like a 5 HP Gale built Hiawatha, SeaBee, etc… the tank gives it away. Good little motors though, this one is late 40’s vintage.

              That’s a Gale built 5. Judging from the yellow paint on the throttle control I would say Good Year SeaBee

                Thanks all for the ID. Funny, I just mentioned "Good Year SeaBee" to my
                uncle yesterday when were were talking about my outboard sold by Firestone
                Tire and Rubber Co., and trying to think of other unlikely outlets that sold
                outboards! I see that the carb does look a little "Galeish".

                  B F Goodrich also sold a Gale based 5. I have only seen pictures of them, never saw one in person. If I ever find one I won’t be able to get my wallet out fast enough. I would put it right between my Good Years and my Firestones.

                    Well, I’m the proud owner of the "froze up", Goodyear Seabee with
                    missing rewind and cowlings…… just what I needed, another froze
                    up engine 🙂
                    The transom tag is missing of course, but I did find a serial number of
                    the block core plug.
                    It’s 0022105
                    I can’t find any online data that would date this engine with this number.

                      1947 5 horse Sea Bee model 2G2. Later models had 360 degree stearing.
