well…my winter 2016 project moved ahead and after mounting it next to my 75 ETEC my nice, $50 1966 Pristine Evinrude started on a few pulls but would not run beyond (Start)

after a few miniues I noticed the bottom plug was cold and top one was hot.

I had not done the electricals because I had spark on both plugs …in the shop and wanted to try the engine out

I had only done the impeller and got the pistons unfrozen. … ahead of winter 2016

wouldn’t you know it I pulled the flywheel and found……BROKEN/CRACKED COILS …. most likely originals to boot

Imagine…. for $50 the guy had the balls to sell me a stuck engine with cracked coils 👿 👿

picked up all the ignition parts this a.m. and will fix it up tomorrow for a new run 🙂

Cracked coils are a given on any nice original motor equipped with the universal mag and should be expected.

What a lowlife the seller is. Thanks for the heads up and I’ll never deal with him! 😀

actually the seller is forgiven and I would not give his name out to anybody if he had another engine for sale 😆 😆 😆
