Here is something that got me thinking. I have a 66″ Evinrude and a 1954 neptune, The carbs have throttle plates (Butterflies) I Really never paid attention till last night, my 41″ Neptune, the Carb does not have a throttle plate on it.. How exactly then does it regulate the speed then?? Does it adjust the timing instead?

Yep – Carb is wide open all the time. Speed
is controlled by advancing or retarding the
timing. Common arrangement in the early
        motors.
