This is the first wobbler I’ve ever seen that had grooves on it’s center bore.
There’s matching ridges on the rotor’s “high side”, but not all the way
      around it’s circumference.
What do you suppose was the reason of the engineer’s design,to have these
      grooves?

Somebody will probably beat me to it before I get my brain fired up and remember the name of the seal.  Same process as the grooved center bearing on OMC powerheads.

The word is Labyrinth Seal.  The reply was speculation.

The steam driven turbine generators at work had labyrinth seals with
oil pumping through them to keep the hydrogen in the generator.
I guess in Mercury’s design it helped to keep the water from bypassing
            from going to the powerhead.

The grooves in brass cam are machined not wear. I do not know about the Wobbler. Brian Wilcox makes them on an exchange basis due to metal parts embedded in the Wobbler.

If I were forced to Walk the Plank and make a guess, it would be the grooves in the Oscillator (Hockey Puck) are part of design to trap water between brass cam and rubber oscillator to lubricate both and reduce wear. especially when operating in shallow water where sand and silt are part of the mx.                 My best guess anyway.

Just ordered a wobbler from Brian a few minutes ago!
