I don’t believe there were any differences in the decals or paint. There may have been minor differences in the exhaust relief in the muffler tube. If I am wrong you may be assured I will quickly be corrected. The Evinrude Speeditwin had several changes in there lower unit. . . . 😆
The 1949 does not have the relief exhaust valve on the side of the exhaust tube. It has multiple holes drilled on the back of the exhaust tube. I happen to like that design and I"ve had several PO’s. That design, if you do a lot of idling, keeps exhaust smoke off the transom and tends to be a little quieter at idle.
