Hold the oil wick on OMC universal ignitions..
You can get them but good effing grief $25 EACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I put them back in when servicing mags, but this mag did not have them…

So that means I have none…dam, gonna have to wait till Monday night to get a set of them, holy crap that is stupid…

They also used to give you a little capsule of it with new points. I could tell a story about that, but I won’t
August 5, 2016 at 11:55 pm #41651I can mail you one, that’s silly. Just PM me your address.
August 5, 2016 at 11:55 pm #41652Frank it just so happens they gave me a tube with each set of points…lubricate with it and forget about it????

classicomctools@gmail.comAugust 5, 2016 at 11:59 pm #41653Open those tubes and lower them over the points post, before dropping down the points. That grease is thin(ish), think It would splatter on the points and foul them if you put it on the cam. I could be wrong. I see so many guys over oil their mag plates, and it ends up fouling the points, that im over anal about too much grease.
August 6, 2016 at 1:56 am #41660Heh, I just googled cam lube and all I got was camshaft lube. I reckon we are getting too dang old. Anyhow, I found this:

EDIT: As I remember it, you were supposed to use a ball of lube half the size of a match head.
August 6, 2016 at 3:45 pm #41673I don’t think the oiler wick is absolutely neccesary as a light coating of grease on the cam worked for years in automotive distributors and they ran for thousands of miles between tune ups. Not a specific number of hours as an outboard maintenance schedule is. Save your $36 and invest it in some synthetic TCW III instead.

If you can wait a week for mail, I’ll send you one free. You just pay me the postage. Hows that for ya?
JerAugust 7, 2016 at 2:56 pm #41716Well thank you to Chris_p and Oldtimer, I took Mumbles advice and just applied a very light coating of grease supplied to the cam and we will see what comes of it..
