I am trying to get this motor back together the inline valve in the fuel line is shot and can not find a 1/8 compression valve anywhere.
is there going to be any issue with changing the tubing and all out to 1/4" copper and valve to for it?

Can you use parts from an OMC 3hp?

A good auto parts store should have the 1/8" copper line and the compression fittings. If memory serves, there’s a flared female one for the carb end and a regular female one for the fuel valve end. I know the last time I needed them for a 1.25 I got them at my local NAPA, think they were made by Parker – though that was probably 8-10 years ago… A quick look on-line and it looks like O’Reilly may also have some. Or place an ad on the Webvertize, I’m sure someone will have the whole fuel line – maybe Doug Penn or Art DeKalb.

If I have a minute tomorrow, I’ll try to shoot a photo for you of what it should look like on the most original unmolested motor I have.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the compression fittings. Have you taken the valve apart and cleaned the seat and stem? If I recall, the stem was steel and they would rust and pit. If that’s the case, I disassemble it, give the stem a good wire-wheel and dress the end with a file, then clean the seat with a Q-tip and carb cleaner. That should fix them 8 out of 10 times. If not and the stem is too rusty or the seat is buggered, then a replacement valve will be needed – as I mentioned, Doug Penn or Art Dekalb are where I’d start.

Just so you know others are out there contemplating your question, I did some looking around and I couldn’t find a new one, either. I was very surprised at that. Usually, if McMaster Carr and eBay don’t have it, it may not exist anymore! I would agree with Lotec’s assessment and go used, at this point…..

                  Long live American manufacturing!
