I know this has been asked before, but I’ll ask again. I’m almost done with the lower unit on this motor and want some opinions on changing the bailer impellor or putting the old one back in? Thanks. CSW

I have one of these. The pump impeller was used, but pretty good. The motor will run slower than it will pump, so it will overheat if you idle for a long time. I will assume that the bailer impeller will do the same thing. Do you want to be able to bail at a dead idle? If so, replace the impeller.

Here’s my ’60 12 horse with a new impeller on the cooling side and a good used one on the bailer side. The motor was running a bit fast in this video but both pumps are working fine.

I wouldn’t worry too much about the bailing side unless your boat sprung a big leak. The the better of the old ones should be OK.
