I am trying to take apart the 2 piece crankcase on my 1912 to replace the lower half of the crankcase to install the correct half of case in #10 part number.  As the picture shows I have opened it up & had some success with it opening about 3/8″, but at that point it stops. I did try removing the set screw believing that could be the problem.  The set screw isn’t the problem with its removal.  I also tried moving the piston in a couple of different positions with no avail.   I didn’t want to tare down it any farther to change just the  lower half.

Can anyone tell me what mite be or is the interference with pulling the lower half and its shaft tube off?   Any suggestions
      would be greatly appreciated?
