I am replacing the original coil with an Evinrude Zephyr as suggested by members and as show in You Tubes, but I am puzzled as to the condenser arrangement.

Currently there is one inside the timer unit, so I presume no other condenser is required

Any advice and diagrams would be much appreciated.

As always, thanks once again for any advice.

My 1925 Eltos both had the condenser inside the coil housing.
Whether or not earlier version had them in the timer, I do not know,
but I’m convinced there should be only one condenser.

Here’s a couple of wiring diagrams I have, I believe at least one is
from Tubs. I’m not sure if they’ll work for you or not.

Only one condenser is required. If I can find a good
place to put it I will often position the condenser out
side of the coil tube. Much easier to replace if you
should have a failure. That’s my thinking anyway.

Took a while to find it. The 2 diagrams that Buck
posted are for the Folding lightweight that has
the kill switch in the tiller.

Thanks very much Buc and Tubs for your replies………excellent photos and diagrams!

It didn’t make sense to me that two condensers were required.

It certainly makes it easier in assembling the coil without the condenser inside the coil tube, especially as there is plenty of room inside the timers.

Attached is a  photo showing the two timers with their respective condensers mounted inside.

You may notice that the timer with the old condenser, has parts of the mechanism  missing…….the missing parts are on their way from Doug and Matt Penn via Santa Claus, ha ha !
