      Hello,
I’ve been looking for terminal ends to connect to the battery on this Ruddertwin. I was wondering if anyone has a photo of the original battery terminal ends. With everyone’s help I’ve determined they are the “fork style” or “U” style ends. I have some of the modern style ends but it doesn’t seem they are going to look correct for the era.
Thanks for all your help! Tom

I have seen both rings and forked terminals on the battery connections. I love your Columbia battery. Are you retrofitting it for a new battery? Also, where did you get the cloth wire? Your motor is fantastic!

Hi Wayne, Thanks for the info on the terminals. I have never seen any original ends. Yes, thank you it’s a pretty cool battery. I thought It might be possible to open the bottom and retrofit a Glass Mat Battery inside.
Luckily, there a quite a few choices for those 6 volt AGM Batteries that may fit. I’m just not sure if I want to deface the battery as it does present well. I found the cloth wire inside a modern electric cooking stove. I just had to change the colors …….red and black magic markers did the trick.

The Brillman Company (brillman.com) has a wide selection of cloth covered wire and battery terminals that nicely replicate the original factory parts.

Is it single or multi strand wire? I thought it was multi strand, which would be fine to use. What’s special about Tom’s wire is that it is two conductor wire inside a cloth jacket. Primary wire is only single conductor. Pulley cord better resembles what was originally used, but it only comes in 14, 16 and 18 gauge from what I have found. My experience suggests that the original wire was white and black with the conductors having a rubber jacket inside a cloth or rubber jacket.
