      Hello everyone!
I started disassembling my Ruddertwin to hopefully accomplish it’s restoration this winter. It’s missing the nameplate on the tank so I don’t know the exact year but some of the folks here informed me that it fits the description of a 1924 model. I am wondering if the 5 M Champion plugs that are in it are correct or what the correct plug should be?
It’s missing the Carburetor and Timer assembly and maybe a few other odds and ends but I think its going to be a fun build.
Here is a photo with the tank and flywheel off. Thank you! Tom

It uses modern Champion D16 plugs. I don’t know off hand if they supercede 5M. Since you are dismantling your motor for restoration would you please post some photos of your exhaust cut mechanism. Mine is missing and I’m curious if I can make one.

I have a rudder twin that the OEM Champion plug was a #7 (old numbering system) that converts to a modern D16. I tried a D16 and the plug stayed white, and was too hot as was the #7 that ran white. I switched to a D9 and now it runs a brown color, which is the correct color and is cooler. The D9 was a 5MJ or 5M.
