How do you set the needle valve. Motor started and ran for a short time after many attempts. Seems like it is starved for fuel

Make sure fuel cap is venting.
Make sure your fuel screen, line and carb are clean.
Push up the poppet valve stem from under the carb.
From the closed position open the needle valve until
Fuel drips out onto your finger. Start motor adjust
        Needle valve accordingly.
Setting will vary slightly from motor to motor.

It always good to make sure your battery is charged
        up as well.

        Respectfully,
        Brook

If your having trouble getting it started it just
may be the opposite. Try starting the motor
as many as 8 times with the mixture screw
closed all the way. If it doesn’t start open
it a ¼ turn more from the last setting. If
the motor fires sometime in those 8 try’s
with the mixture screw closed and cleans
itself out you know it was open too far.

Hi. I could see no water coming out of the coiled tubes. Cylinders got hot fast. I was runing the motor in a tank. Tge prop and rudder where well under the water. Does the motor beed to be moving through tge water to work.

Yes – It needs to be moving to have the water circulate.

Thank you. I will look fir a blockage. If none i will conect a gardeb hose to the rudder. So i can fine tune. Befire taking out on the water.

I would never touch the end of a ruddertwin or speedster cylinder up through 1929 because the ends are extremely hot because there is no water jacket there. It is ok to lightly touch a surface with your wet finger if that surface has a welch plug on it, indicating a water jacket. Better yet is to spritz the cylinder with some water to see if the sides sizzle.
