Hello and thanks. 1928 4hp Elto in great shape(for 91 years old). I just have never run one , and know it needs a 6vlt battery. The wires are not marked in any way, so is there a +/- wire or doesn’t it matter?

Polarity doesn’t matter. In fact, the manual says to alternate them occasionally.
