Thanks. My carb body actually seems to be in great shape integrity wise. I always go easy when tightening things so should be OK. I did get the thing to run pretty well in a test tank once a mud dauber deposit was removed from one of the water dump tubes. There is excessive crank endplay though and when the flywheel rises, it pulls up the impeller and water pumping becomes less than adequate. I will do some more tinkering and get it ready for a meet in a few weeks to have it on a boat. In all the messing around, I didn’t get the photos. I will do that tonight when I get done mowing the lawn after work.

Mine has a prop nut on it, not a screw

I ran one quite a bit this summer. It ran well, 20 to25 mineuts,
till the gas tank, and gas, get warm. (110 – 115 deg.). Then I coulden’t
get the carb set to where it would run for any time without needing another
adjustment. If I didn’t get to it quick enough, or went the wrong way, it
stoped. It would start right back up. Never had any problem getting it
started. Sometimes, while trying to get it to run slow, it backfires. It may
quit running, it may keep running. Muffler is too close to the gas tank
IMO. I tried making a heat shield as well as several modifications to the
muffler to reduce any back pressure. (Spair muffler which had the big holes
in it when I found it.) Ran longer (30 -35 min.) before it would start acting
up. I can hold my fingers on the sides (front & back) of the cyl.’s when its
running (not the ends!!!) but they seem warm (110 to 130deg.) as well, Also
the carrying handle gets warm. Block temp. was in the high 70’s – carb.
temp. mid 60’s – water temp. low 70’s. Mine pumped water well and seem
to have good circulation but the water tubes seem too small to me. I did get
to where the motor would run steady wide open after everything got
warmed up. While the heat may be part of the problem I believe it’s mostly
the carburetor. I brought 2 of the ones that came on it. Wasn’t enough.
After messing with it for 3 weeks I took it off. I’d had enough of it.
I’ll be real interested in hearing your experiences running yours.

        .

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
