Welcome to the discussion Jean. In an attempt to discover what difference there may be between the to keyway’s, as far as spark, I have attached a spark tester. Spinning the motor with a drill, the magneto would generate a spark at a much slower rpm using keyway #1 compared to keyway #2. I took video but when uploaded to You Tube it doesn’t show the spark every time. I’ll still include the link so you get some idea how much slower the motor is spinning in position #1 compared to position #2. https://youtu.be/D0tVh812ls4
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
