Hi, Hutch here in Minnesota I just acquired a Johnson 300 I believe it’s 3.7 horse and I’m trying to find out what the proper fuel mixture is for it can’t seem to find anywhere online also does anyone know what the correct spark plugs are for this unit as well as does it use gear Molly in the lower end because it looks like it’s got a big grease fitting down there on the top of the cavitation plate. thanks for any help. Hutch

I use John Deere corn head grease, or Lubriplate 105 in the gearcase.

The 300 uses Champion J8J plugs gapped to 030.

        030 point gap

1/2 pint per gallon of fuel.

          Also, it could be a 1935 or a 1936.

If the serial number is between 219,372 and 232,156 its a 1935
If the serial number is between 232,157 and 252,675 its a 1936

Memory tells me that the big grease fitting is not a grease fitting. It is a clip for an accessory trolling plate.
