Hi. Upon initial cleaning and inspection of a 1936 model 4148 Fisherman, I noticed that the transom swivel seems to be riding up too far toward the engine block.
The carb adjustment hits the steer arm, seemingly the transom assembly is riding too high. Perhaps a part or bushing is missing from this motor.
The top nuts and bolts that hold the swivel assembly seem to be tightened down all the way, but are not keeping the swivel from moving.
I have attached photos to show what I have or what might be missing. First pic shows how far up the assembly is riding. Initial looks it seems right, but it is not.
Next picture, I have slid the assembly down and can see lots of old crusted grease and maybe a bushing that disintegrated. Looks more like old grease to me.
Next pic, I show that the carb adjustment hits the steer arm end because the swivel assembly is seemingly riding too high up.
Last picture shows the top of the swivel assembly and the nut/bolt.
I don’t know what, if anything is missing.
Any help on what I might be missing or need to do to set this swivel assembly properly would be appreciated.
thanks in advance. Steve
