Great job on the lever tensioner. To advance or retard the timing, can you just lengthen or shorten the treaded rod that goes from the lever to the points plate? If so, that looks like you would be able to make adjustments a lot easier.
Gary, I realized the same thing regarding adjusting the rod instead
of messing with the cam……. about two hours after the fact,
while looking in the mirror, brushing my teeth.

October 1, 2025 at 9:55 am #300274Well if you need to make any more adjustments to the timing, it should be a little easier and hopefully quicker. It seems everyone is learning about your motor. Your detail to documentation is great. There are a few here that go above and beyond when it comes to documentation. Keep up the great work.

Harry, I had a guy out West make up a solid state voltage regulator,
and the “Hi / Lo” charge rate toggle switch is no longer used.I started out with a fully charged battery today, and I’m not
sure if there was any “charge demand” from the generator
windings or not. The old cut-out relay is still in use.The previous trip, the battery was way down, and the system was
charging that day.But Yeah…… Runs Great!

Slap to the forehead! It’s those head slappers, that you won’t find in any manual, which get these old treasures up and running again where you can really enjoy them.
A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
