Dan – nice restoration job!   A new decal will really set it off.

        That’s looking real nice Dan!
I have a 1940 Handitwin that I got running last year,
but I left it in it’s original patina. It ran great out
        on the lake.

Well done, looks like were back in 1938. Yes
the blue decal is correct for your motor.

Final update on the Handitwin. Have the decals installed ( What a job/PAIN!!!) hope the couple of small air bubbles somehow magically disappear. Buffed the flywheel and now is ready to show/run. I like the blue decals and Dixie sells top quality decals.Dans-Handitwin7

Nice job.  I am reconditioning the same motor. My motor had the same issues with the water pump housing, and gearcase missing parts. I have a 1939 parts motor, so I found the needed parts.                                                                                                                                                                                                               I painted my motor dull aluminum color using krylon paint. It looks to bright for me. I am going to try duplicolor cast aluminum . What paint did you use on your motor?

Dan, that motor looks beautiful! I’m sending my decal work to you.
Decals are almost as bad as Bondo work!

Looks beautiful!!  You can slice the air bubbles with a razor blade and recoat with clear lacquer on a small brush to seal them.

Hi Rob, I used Seymour Hi-Tech EN-71 Dull Aluminum on this motor. I did buy Dupli Color DE1650 Cast Aluminum for a Merc KE4 that I’m painting so I don’t know what it will look like yet. Someone on AOMCI posted that this is the closest he’s found for the Merc so I will try it on my Merc. I like the looks of the Seymour on this motor though. I also have a can of Dupli Color DE1615 Aluminum that I thought I would try on a motor at some point…just to see what I like the best.

Dan, thank you for the information. I picked up some Duplicolor 1650 yesterday. I sprayed one of my parts, and I like the look of it. I have never seen the Seymour paint around here but I am going to hunt some down to try.

                        Thanks again

                        Rob
