Purchased a 1938 Elto Ace and it’s missing the coil and condenser. I purchased a 1937 timer base assy. and flywheel on Ebay hoping I can get this motor running, I know the earlier models had the built in timer handle but that can be rectified. Can anyone tell me what years and models would have the same ignition parts in case the purchased one doesn’t work out?
Elto Pal, 1937-41, would be the most common but parts motors are getting pretty pricey. The Ranger 1938-41, would be the cheapest motor. There plentiful and not a lot of interest in them. Rangers after WW-II have a different magneto. There are some 1hp. Johnson’s from the same time that have that magneto. There is also a $15.00 coil that can be modified to use in that magneto. But what you have coming should have everything you need.

Thanks Tubs…as usual you are a wealth of information. I also sent an email to Matt Penn for some other parts that are missing. This motor would make a nice younger brother to my 38 Handitwin.
Matt sold off all he had, Doug is still selling parts. The points on these often result in loss of spark. You should take the set your going to use apart and clean them. If the insulated push pin is missing, it can easy fall out and get lost, I have a spare.
