I am trying to disassemble a 1939 2 HP Evinrude outboard motor model number 4296. How do you disconnect/ disassemble this lower end from the drive shaft.

If the bolts are out, then most likely the gear itself on the driveshaft is keeping the
gear case from coming off. If there’s no “clips, pins, or set screws holding the
gear to the shaft, then likely rust is holding it on.

Prepare to be boarded!
