March 8, 2025 at 9:57 am #294506Tubs, very nice work, indeed. I see the creative fix for the “always” broken tiller handle clamp. My Cub also has a metal match plate holding the tiller handle. Yours is best, looks like it incorporates a large hole for a safety chain clip…. good idea.

Just for fun, could you measure the compression? That should be a hoot.Bob D

Joe, What I have on there is this aluminum block, which I got on a motor, at least 15 years ago. I searched for Ray in the members index at that time and he wasn’t listed. The plate on top of it is for my extended tiller. However on the OA-55 I’ve been working on there is part of an aftermarket device to attach a line should the motor jump off the back of the boat. It seems they are still in business. Bob I’ve sent you a PM .

March 10, 2025 at 5:15 am #294529Once again Tubs. Well done!
I’m sure you will have a lot of fun with it.
I too would love to know what the compression reading is.

Compression is 70 lbs. spinning it with my battery drill. With the small dia. rope sheave on this motor I could spin it faster pulling it over by hand, which might add another 5 lbs., but I lost the small starting rope I had for these.
