There is a good article on the 1940 model 469 in the July 1983 Outboarder. It has no shroud on it. The 1940 model is Evinrude number 8812 on the brass welch plug. The 1939 model is 8809 and may be different somehow. Yours may be missing the sn tag on the pivot casting.

If you are a member look in the back of the Outboarder.
I checked and the July 83 issue is sold out.
October 83 is still available.A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
January 4, 2017 at 9:56 pm #50324Which Model/Serial Number is that one in the picture?
January 5, 2017 at 9:48 pm #50389There seems to be a lot of conflicting information about these outboards regarding side pieces.
Is there anyone who has this exact model? The one pictured doesn’t have the same handle even.I would like to see that "July 1983 Outboarder" about this engine.
January 6, 2017 at 12:24 pm #50435Per the article in the October 2003 Antique Outboarder, the first two years of production 1938 & 1939 did not have the
Side pieces (Chipmunk Cheeks) The side pieces were added on the 1940 model through end of production in 1946.January 8, 2017 at 12:05 am #50589Thanks! Where do you get these old articles?
January 8, 2017 at 12:13 am #50592I bought a box full of old Antique Outboarder magazine at Great Lakes last Dry meet on 10/15/16
Ask some of the guys in your chapter or other meets if they have any for sale? I paid $1.00 a copy.Good Luck,

Great Lakes ChapterJanuary 8, 2017 at 2:58 am #50603There is no Oklahoma Chapter, guess I’m out of luck. Maybe I can find something on eBay.
I thought about starting an Oklahoma Chapter but there is only three AOMCI members in the state.
