There’s a nut (41-129) on top called the “Inner driveshaft casing nut”.
The tube / casing appears flared on the bottom.
Perhaps one takes the nut off the top and slides the tube out
      the bottom?

Driveshaft broke at a hole on the lower section where the pinion rides. Parts book lists a pin for the pinion gear, I can’t see it in the part diagram. I haven’t found one in the gearcase. Buccaneer, do you recall having a pin on yours?

I don’t recall, and the only photo I have doesn’t show the end of the driveshaft.
It was common for the pinon gear to be pinned on some driveshaft though.

I’ve looked over the pinion gear, there doesn’t appear to be a hole. Wonder if pinion rode under the pin?

Does the pinion gear attach to the driveshaft via a square end or spline?
Not sure what the pin would do above the pinion gear unless it kept the gear
at a certain height on the shaft.
Beginning to wonder if someone has done some modifications in the past.
Hopefully when you get the new parts it will all make sense!

It’s is splined. I too was wondering thesame thing, about it just keeping the gear at a certain height
