Hi Everyone,
I just picked up a 1941 Neptune 11A9 9.5HP and I need a parts diagram. This is a neat little motor that has a stationary power head and a moveable lower unit. I paid $60 for it but it needs work. Coils are good as well as compression BUT the tiller handle is broken. Doug Penn says he has parts but I need to be able to tell him what I need. Thanks Everyone“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.

I live in Northwest IndianaNovember 2, 2015 at 9:51 pm #26434Be very careful of the carburetor linkage. Those small aluminum parts break easily and the small screws tend to strip out. Have fun with it, I have the 6hp version.
November 3, 2015 at 7:50 pm #26485John, As you can see in the picture the mount for the tiller is broken off. I pulled the lower unit to remove the broken portion from the leg. There is a bronze sleeve over the aluminum leg and the only thing I see is two pins? holding the sleeve on. How do I get those out? The pencil is pointing to the pins I am talking about. Thanks

November 3, 2015 at 10:44 pm #26493You could drill them out. May be a little under size and then knock the rest out with a punch. I will have to dig through my shed and get a closer look at that part.

I drilled one with a small bit and used an easy out. The pins are actually threaded screws with the heads filed off. Still trying to figure out how to get the broken portion out.“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
November 6, 2015 at 3:52 am #26628I’m misunderstanding what part is broken. Is it the part that the tiller arm bolts to? There is also the part that slides on the torque tube the bolts up to the crankcase. I believe the tiller part is the same as on the 6hp opposed twin as well as the 6 and 9hp alternate firing models.

I am talking about the part that attaches to the top of the lower unit. It sits directly under the power head. If you look at the picture above you will see where the bracket used to be mounted. That grey thing with the chunk missing out of it. That broken part used to be attached to the top of the lower unit.“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” ― Martin Luther King Jr.
