Some early post war KD Mercs and WD Wizards may  have 7 slit oscillator water pumps instead of the usual 3 slit rotating vane impeller.

The 3 slit water pump uses impeller  47-24447.  Several vendors sell new reproductions, the old impeller core can be used as part of remolded impeller by several individuals  AND several commonly available impellers can be nodified to fit and serve. Several such adaptions have been subject of articles in Antique Outboarder.

Yep. July 2018. A great short article by Joe Brincat.

I can’t find my July 2018 issue (yet) !  This says for the KD-4. Does anyone know if the impeller is the same or the parts are in the same order? I think the gear ratio is what is different ?

The 3 slit water pumps used on the Early K Models are all the same whether used on a single or twin, Mercury or  Wizard.  Singles have 12/22 gear set while twins have a 14/10 gear set 3 shims and a spacer.

Update:  Bob Grubb told me to contact Brian Wilcox in the membership directory. I did. He said he could sell me an impeller he casts on an exchange basis. I mailed him mine, and he sent me a new one back. I think I paid $30 and shipping.
