      Crankcase stamped 1J 209
My brother in law saved this from a neighbor cleaning out a garage to the dump. Missing the prop, and no spark plug wire visible until I see where it’s supposed to come from. Otherwise, looks intact. Good compression, a few minor dents & dull paint.
I don’t have a boat it’d be useful on, but appreciate others may need parts/assys/to keep a similar model original.
This thing was in a barn for decades.
If I can figure out how to post pics here, I’ll so so soon. Ballpark value? As a unit, break up for parts, or what could this be worth running smoothly?

I’m not in a hurry. But someone out there wants most of this. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

The Champion 1J was the first motor they designed and built themselves. Prior to that Champions were made by Scott-Atwater. There are really a lot of 1Js around (at least in Minnesota) so they are not worth much. They run great, with a distinctive sound and troll amazingly slow, but don’t pivot around to back up. The 1J was made in 1946 and 1947. Most of them have the side panels and rear spark plug cover missing.
