I picked up a 47 speedifour at Tomahawk and just started to go through it. Today I pulled the mag plate off and tested the coils and condensers, all checked out fine with the exception of one condenser. The question is does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could locate a new condenser or what I could use as a substitute.

extensive testing by M.Mohat (Outboarder magazine) seems to indicate that .22uf is just about perfect for most applications you can read up on it in the docs posted on the Western region aomci

https://wrcoutboards.org/magazine-articles/ you can simply download each one

            glad to help out ๐Ÿ™‚

if you plan working on oldies M.Mohat ‘s article on testing caps and the test box diagram #1 he supplied me with was a real confidence builder

new or old I now test all my caps every time before installing any. and closing up the flywheel. no more guessing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Steve I use a D204 automotive condenser. They were used on millions of GM and other manufacture’s cars back in the ’50’s up to electronic ignition came to be. I have two Zephyrs right now using them. Yes they are getting old but they seam to work just fine.
