I need some help on a 1.5 hp. Atlas. I need to know the part number or a source for the impeller? I see it is the wobble type but have no idea what the number is or where to get a replacement. 1948 / 1949 1A5 1.5 hp. Gale product. Thanks in advance for the Help.

January 28, 2016 at 1:00 am #30915This Gale series with the name brand of Viking sold by Eaton’s, should be very close to or spot on your Atlas Gale built motor.

I took a look at http://www.marineengine.com and it states that part number is for a cam. It may be mistaken by the website. Those rotor pumps were still being sold within the past year. Please call marineengine.com and find out if they have them
Two other names that come to mind as well are Ed Elliot and Dan Gano. They deal with NOS parts and are great to deal with.
January 28, 2016 at 1:48 am #30916part number is 550683. You do not want to buy it from marineengine ($$$). Club member Brian Wilcox makes them at a reasonable price. e-mail Baron0418@att.net. please note the b must be a capital.

January 28, 2016 at 8:38 am #30927Frank R..please school me as to what is the difference between the "pump rotor- 550683" and the "pump eccentric- 550671" ? I have several of these Gale motors and have inspected/replaced several of the rubber impellers.Thank you.

"Rotor" is the rubber wobbler that we often erringly call an impeller.

Decoding the model numbers, 1A5 is the Gale model number for an Atlas "A". 1G5 is the Gale model number for a Goodyear "G". Same motor, different color, decals, possibly other small details. Moving up, 1G10 is a Goodyear, slightly different than a 1G5, but almost the same. "C" makes it Canadian.
A few years ago, somebody posted information about the differences between 1W5 amd 1W10 (Wards version). I saved it somewhere, if I can find it. But the differences were in decals, etc.
I don’t think Atlas ever had the 1×10 version.
January 28, 2016 at 4:51 pm #30947I remember Garry Spencer posting a parts diagram for the little 1948 Gale 1.5hp. He stated that Elto 1.5hp Sportser share many features to the Gale 1.5hp motor. I think the parts diagram is good except the lower unit diagram. Maybe someone has the lower unit diagram for your assistance.
Guys, if this is not correct please correct my mistake. Trying organize my files from an other older computer that has been having issues, so my organized system has been disrupted.
This is the lower unit diagram for the 1B10 -
