I just acquired a Evinrude 3.3 sportwin, about a 1948 or 49. I have worked on many of the mid to late 50s Evinrudes, but know very little about this one. I want to replace the water pump impeller , and maybe some carburetor parts. I do not have any idea what part numbers I am looking for. I have not been able to find a parts manual. Where can I find these kind of parts?
Secondly, the recoil rope is broke. It had the wire inside the starter cord. Is this still available, or just use regular starter cord?
Thank you for any information you can share with me.
October 13, 2017 at 11:22 am #66135If you do a search on this site for "4423 Sportwin" you’ll find some information.
To the best of my knowledge, the old style rope with wire inside is NOT
available. Regular cord works on these old motors, but sometimes you
have to get creative so the knot on the rope doesn’t "pull through"
or interfere with moving parts.Prepare to be boarded!

October 13, 2017 at 5:19 pm #66152Thanks for the info. I will do a search for 4423 Sportwin, and see what I come up with.
October 13, 2017 at 8:29 pm #66159Does anyone have a suggestion on what seal to use for the driveshaft seal? 201876 is NLA.
October 13, 2017 at 8:55 pm #66162Not sure what seal "I" used for the driveshaft, but found these notes
from someone else in my folder……..
===========================================
If you have to change the prop and drive shaft seals, I just did my 4425 and 4423 Rudes and used SKF 5523 and 4770 seals. They aren’t snap in like the originals but with a bit of adhesive sealer they will work.Prepare to be boarded!
October 14, 2017 at 4:30 pm #66188I still have not come up with a source for impellers. Is there one for the "newer" OMCs that will work on this motor?
