Great to hear it’s alive again. For videos, typically a link is posted to either a video you have uploaded to YouTube or some other hosting service.

August 21, 2017 at 5:30 pm #63589Hi again everyone, took her out and she performed well. At first a little rough but I had to tilt the motor to compensate for the weight. I have a new problem, it leaks gear oil. Are prop shaft seals universal? Below is what I’m trying to get, not the whole thing but just the seal part that pops out. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,

Seal #22 – 302495 (very expensive)
One member makes a real nice replacement seal for that, another member (might still) makes a bushing for that, that allows you to use a smaller less expensive seal 302545>313284 or Sierra 18-2005

turned off?August 22, 2017 at 6:26 pm #63646Thanks for the help, now to find some parts. About every marine/boat shop around here stopped me at "Its a 1954.." I’m not too concerned about price as this is my only outboard and I want to fish this weekend. Still thinking of ways I could fabricate my own just in case.
August 22, 2017 at 7:53 pm #63651A search at the original manufacturer’s site (Chicago Rawhide, now SKF) crosses the 302495 seal to SKF 6280, which is available at places that sell seals – not marine dealers.
Here’s the lookup site:http://www2.chicago-rawhide.com/popup_p … 457012.htm
Here’s where it takes you giving specs on the seal:
http://www.skfextranet.com/Catalogs/457 … asp?s=6280
and here is one of many places to place to buy them if you run a websearch on SKF 6280:

DaveAugust 23, 2017 at 2:46 am #63667Thanks Dave, just ordered one. Beats getting a $30 one thats been sitting in a garage since the 60’s.
June 6, 2025 at 9:55 am #2971208 years late to the party here but I have a Bucaneer 12hp that runs good but the crankcase needs re-sealed. It’s seeping and it’s going lean in the test tank, so I shut it down and shelved it. I’m in Michigan right on Pt AuGres
