Gents,
Would anyone know a part number for a modern replacement water impeller for this motor?
It has the neutral clutch. Is this one of the models where the power head is removed to get access to the pump?
Thanks in advance!
She starts, runs, like a dream, but would like peace of mind since who knows the last line the impeller was replaced.
Evinrude fleetwin 1952May 17, 2017 at 8:42 pm #57878I have used the OMC/BRP 277181 impeller with good success. You must "thin it", though, to make it work. The side profile of the Fleetwin impeller is smaller, so I took the new impeller and thinned it on a belt sander. Flip frequently to take equal amounts off both sides until the profile dimension is the same as the one you removed. Take care to keep the impeller flat on the sander as you don’t want it uneven, either… My ’53 pumped great with its new impeller after this modification!
No, you don’t have to remove the powerhead for the neutral clutch models. Drop the unit and undo the shift linkage from under the exhaust snout.

The clutch discount is in front of the exhaust outlet. . . 😀

Unusual, but what the hey, they worked. At least you won’t be busting off pump housing screws.May 18, 2017 at 3:50 pm #57914stan jackson in ohio. I have NOS impellors for this motor. $25 shipped to you. Where are you. Let me know Scj616@aol.com or 1-419-589-58one 8
May 19, 2017 at 3:37 pm #57971I’m jumping in here, hope you don’t mind. I just got one and it’s stuck. 15 minutes in I realized the lower unit was jammed with some rust. I’m going to replace the shaft seal and make a new cover seal. Did these use oil or the lubraplate equivalent grease? First time I’ve dealt with a shock absorber lower unit.

May 20, 2017 at 12:49 pm #58048Thanks Garry! I think I’m missing a part or two in there – something doesn’t seem right and the engagement piece wasn’t working.
