That runs nice! Well done. I love those 3hp twins.
Thanks Dave, i’m new to these old outboards , i just fell in love with these older motors. There’s just something about the way they sound. I’m hooked!

That’s exactly what it was Mumbles, for future reference is there a better alternative plug for these older motors? Thanks
May 16, 2018 at 7:45 am #76076NGK’S! Proven reliability, preferred by professionals!
And no, I’m not on their payroll or have any connection with the company. I’ve just had bad experiences with new Champions right out of the box and NGK’s have never let me down.
Champion J6J or J6C will cross over to NGK B6S While J4J or J4C will be B8S.
May 16, 2018 at 9:13 am #76078I Agree with Mumbles.
I had several trouble with Champion on a 1976 9.9hp.
Two sets of new spark plugs last no more than 10 hours.
I tried a set of USED NGK (taken from my Yamaha 30D) and I had no more problems.
Now, I use only NGK.

May 16, 2018 at 2:27 pm #76091Just a word of caution but make sure you buy genuine NGK’s from a reputable seller as there are cheaper fake ones out there, especially on Ebay. 😥

I second Mumble’s opinion, based on my experience. And i am a "Buy American" kind of guy.
