      I am attempting to find out what years and horsepower ranges of Scott Atwater, Firestone, or Corsair lower unit parts will interchange with the subject outboard. I received this motor with a couple of old WD-3 Wizard/Mercury’s and it’s in remarkably good condition except for missing the cap, forward gear and related shifter parts. I have a service/parts manual CD on order but I have the opportunity to purchase a 1949 "shift" 7 1/2 Scott and a 1953 "shift" 5 hp Firestone lower unit for parts and need to know if they will interchange.

        what I can glean from a quick peek at the Scott manual, for ’53 the 5 and 7.5 lowers were the same. I don’t think the ’49 will interchange. I’d say the Firestone is a good bet.
