Hi, I run this motor on a Hydroplane. Last year I had trouble planing off… Seemed like a carberation problem. I took the carb off to clean it and… Does the intake look right? Not lined up with the carb opening. And what is this hole on the right side of the block?
April 19, 2025 at 2:03 pm #295613The hole is for a short bolt that holds the red block. without the bolt it WILL leak air.

April 19, 2025 at 7:48 pm #295636Reed block assembly is not located correctly. I doubt if the bolt that holds the reed block can be installed with the reed block out of alignment.
When I go inside one of these I make a witness mark to keep the reed block located during assembly. this is from memory as I’ve not played with these in years.

I thought I remembered the reed block more lined up. I agree it also looks like without that bolt it would leak air. Will I need to completely disassemble the crank case or might I be able to realign and find a bolt from the carb opening?
April 19, 2025 at 8:07 pm #295638Hey look… In 2013 there was a reed block locator bolt installed….
April 19, 2025 at 9:31 pm #295640Try heat around the block and maybe tap with wood dowl thru the carb hole. Just a MAYBE.
Good Luck
April 20, 2025 at 2:55 pm #295672Thank you Dave, excellent advice. Has not worked yet, I see how it is supposed to be… Just won’t budge even with some heat and the dowel idea. Will try again later.

April 20, 2025 at 7:01 pm #295675Or from the bottom that also would require work and skill.
