1954 big twin electric 25hp gasket

I was wondering if there is supposed to be a gasket between the upper gearcase and exhaust housing? on the parts manual it doesnt show one at all but my engine has one and doing google searches comes up with nothing.

It would make sense that there would be a gasket there because of the water pump channels, and I seem to remember one, but you are correct, the parts book does not show one.

ya its really weird no matter what I search I cant find one. mine has one maybe ill just make a gasket. just would be nice to have the oe one
