      Hello,

      I have a 1954 Evinrude 25HP Big Twin (Model #25012, Serial #72301). I am getting oil into the magneto area and believe the crankshaft seal needs to be replaced. Can anyone provide the original part number or modern cross reference for the upper crankshaft bearing seal?

      Also, is there a carbon o-ring beneath this bearing seal? If so, can anyone provide the part # for that as well?

          302538 is the carbon seal.If you can get it off with out breaking it,you should get by with just replacing the O ring inside.I like to replace it with a quad ring.

              302540 is also a carbon o ring up to motors 17000

                Make sure you put the carbon seal back on with the little notches on top.

                    You are looking for a quad seal with a width of .139 an ID of .984 and an OD of 1.262.McMaster Carr lists them as “Quattro” seals and are specified for dynamic applications.
