      Hello All,
I was given a nice 1954 Evinrude Fastwin 15Hp with a broken cowl hinge pin. Can anyone tell me the proper way to fix the hinge? Thanks

I don’t know about the "proper way", but I ended up drilling a small hole
in the pin boss (about where shown on the photo) on the inside of the cowl (where it wouldn’t show),
then used a sharp probe (ice pick, etc.) to slide the pin out
far enough to grab it with a pliers.

          MP,

It looks like your decal is yet another variant for this particular model. Any chance of o good picture of the inside decal?

          Thanks.

I have often wondered just how to deal with this situation, especially in the SS rod/pin is somewhat rusted/corroded in place…

Here is a picture of the decal.

                MP,

Thanks for the pic. Just like Buccaneer’s decal. My 53 is just a bit different but the 54 will be easier to copy.

                Thanks again.

Here is an update on my broken hinge. I used some heat on the broken hinge until I heard the pin pop, it moved and it slid out fairly easily. I had some bar stock on hand and made a new pin. Very easy fix.
