I’m in the process of restoring a 1954 Johnson 5.5hp model CD-11. Encountering a small issue in reassembling the swivel and steering bracket assembly to the exhaust housing, due to difficulty with installing the upper "motor mount" springs in the steering bracket pockets. Any advice on the best way to get this assembly put together?

        Bob,

        Welcome!!!

If I remember right, I used some Channel-lock type pliers to squeeze the springs to get them in place. Patience.

          David,
I’ve done a few other vintage 1950s OMC restorations but this is my first one with the spring mounts. I’ve learned when encountering a problem that patience is always good!
