I have a 15 hp jhonson rebuilt carburetor when I choke carb give a couple of pulls it fires . Pull open choke gas runs out of carb. It did the same thing before rebuild of carb . Motor sneezes when it fires or barely runs . I know carb is right any ideas. Thanks
October 9, 2022 at 7:47 pm #267363carb float sticking is likely.. the only way the carb can overflow is with excess gas pouring in
squeeze the bulb and if you can’t get it to harden up the inlet needle/float is not doing it’s job just like a leaky toilet bowl float
did you conver to pump or still using air pressure tank ??
“pull open the choke” ===> means choking did you mean “push in the choke” to stop the choking or did I read you wrong ??

October 9, 2022 at 8:25 pm #267368Using pressure tank Two line. When I push in choke its open.choke motor then open choke gas comes out of back of carb , not using carb air cover plate I don’t think that has anything to cause gas to come out back of carb. I am sure float isn’t sticking new float and needle.
October 9, 2022 at 8:33 pm #267369new does not mean works ok …. if you pump the push button on the tank will the carb fill and stop the in flow of fuel … yes no ??
did you blow test the carb after assembly ??
or does it keep flooding as you prime the push button

October 9, 2022 at 8:47 pm #267373Yes I did blow test carb that was good.dose not flood when I pressure tank up . only floods when I pull choke out and close give two pulls with starter it fires then when I push choke in gas comes out of choke opening
October 9, 2022 at 11:36 pm #267379fat donut installed at the bottom of the carb ? float level with carb body when upside down ??
close the HS needle shut see if it will idle on the LS circuit only and not flood .
if ok on idle open HS needle slowly ….. throttle in the idle- start position it should not flood

October 10, 2022 at 6:19 am #267383Let’s back up. With the engine NOT running, and the choke OPEN, push the primer button on the FUEL tank, until it is hard. Does gas come out of the back of the carb, or not? Do not try to start it. Just answer this one question, please.
Long live American manufacturing!
October 10, 2022 at 7:14 am #267384No.
October 10, 2022 at 9:26 am #267390Yes fat donut installed, float is level upside down. It floods after choking only shoots gas out when you pull starter after choking.
October 10, 2022 at 10:11 am #267391at the onset the pressure tank is NOT pressurized so just the carb and carb bowl have fuel in it . odd the recoil starter would impact enough pressure to have the fuel come up the HS nozzle because any pressure would just end up in the tank.
close both needles and see if flooding still occurs after a brief choking ….
if it still floods ckeck for any missing lead plugs in certain carb passages
recheck needle packings
what does gas comes out of ” back “of carb mean exactly ???
