I ma a new member and need a little assistance in locating 2 cowling spring clips the secures the two halves of the hood.  I also need a pull start housing complete as well.  I would appreciate any assistance finding these items.

          Hi Jan and welcome aboard!

Your ’55 CD has the small round starter on it so any starter from a ’54 or ’55 CD will work on it. The 7.5  horse Evinrude Fleetwin  starters from the same years might be the same to but I’m not sure. In ’56 and later they all went to the elliptical starters.

To aid in your search, here’s a parts manual so you can at least get the needed part numbers for those items.

It appears that I will have to make a gasket for my 1955 Johnson 5.5hp cd-12 and would appreciate any advice regarding material and thickness. What would be the best method of tracing out the pattern. In the past, I used a ball pean hammer to trace the openings. I could not find part# 303467 available as it seems the 1957 was different than the 1955. Input would be much appreciated.
