Trying to find out if a 1955 Evinrude 15 Fastwin manual start could be converted to Electric start by
using the parts from a 1956 Evinrude 15 Electric start engine?
Trying to make a period correct 1955 Electric start engine.
Unless someone knows of one for sale?
      Thanks,
      John

Was there ever any such thing as a 1955 Electric start 15? I dunno, would have to investigate that. But even so, I can’t think of any reason offhand that would prevent putting the ’56 starter on it. Well, maybe I can. Didn’t the ’55 have the small recoil starter, which would prevent using the larger electric start flywheel?

Why don’t you just paint & decal the ’56 to ’55 colors?

There is a change in the Engine block part number between the two years. You would have to put the parts of one against the other to see if they would interchange.
          . . . 🙂
