I am trying to open up the gear case on the motor, but the screws won’t budge. Thought I would come here for help BEFORE destroying the screw head. I am looking for tips on how to get them out. Obviously they are screws, so they should unscrew, but I was wondering if there was locktite used on them, or if they are just corroded in place?

      Thanks in Advance.

Heat from a little propane bottle torch and an impact driver
        should get them loose.
If you have no impact driver, heat up the case around the bolt,
the wrap on your screwdriver handle a few good wallops before
        trying to loosen the bolts.
Leverage on your screwdriver, i.e., a adjustable wrench or vice-grips
        comes in handy also.

sometimes   when they won’t unscrew  a short burst of an impect driver (1/4 inch no bigger) clockwise  then  reversed CCW  will break the bond.

make certain you firmly push against the screw slots so the  proper sized blade will not skip out !

Max as a last resort use a center punch.  Make a divot with your punch then angle it a little to force the screw to turn counter clockwise.  We used this trick on motorcycle screws many moons ago!

Thank you. I got them out with the torch and wrench on a screwdriver.

Max, go ahead and buy one of the hand impact drivers that was mentioned, you will be using it in the future on tight screws, Very effective tool and not expensive.

I use the impact screwdriver from Home Depot at the link below. Works great!
