Ok I used part 172522 OMC brand thinking I had the correct kit. I had to drill out the centers to get them to work. They seem a little short too and just don’t adjust right. Does anyone have any input? I guess I need point set 580148 right? The box on 172522 said that it covered a lot of models in the 50’s. I guess it just doesn’t cover an Rde-17, Thanks!

172522 is the correct tune-up kit for your motor. 580148 is the correct point set but they should be included in the 172522 kit. Don’t know why you had to modify yours to fit unless it’s another sign of BRP outsourcing parts to crappy manufacturers.

Edit – guess you were talking about having to drill out the points mounting to fit. A number of folks have recently reported fitment problems with the BRP points. I had trouble on my last set.
