I am rebuilding the lower unit on this ‘56 30 hp Johnson and want to know about the upper drive shaft bushing.  It was spun and loose enough to remove from housing with thumb.  The driveshaft to inside clearance of old bushing is about .003 and the shaft is not worn where it contacts the bushing.  I see in one of the diagrams in the 10 edition manual that they describe the bushing as floating.  The replacement bushing that I just received definitely will not finger push into the housing but measures about the same size as the housing at about .8135 (maybe a half thousands less on the bushing).  It is a much tighter fit on the shaft at about .0018.  My question is what do they mean by floating bushing in that diagram?  Is it supposed to be a loose fit in the housing?   Or pressed in?     Should I Loctite it in?  So I guess I don’t know how much the housing is worn is the issue.  The problem to begin with may be related to someone using grease instead of oil in the gearcase. Thanks for any help
