Wrote this out and took a pic of it. See problem below in pic. Thanks. 82EFB444-7AD5-47BE-A42E-DEF33B13D0AB

Did you test prop movement in f-n-r before re-installing the lower unit onto the motor? Possibly a problem with the shift rod adjustment under the Powerhead?

It does it with the lower unit out or installed   Same results.

If you slightly loosen the bolts holding the two halves of the gearcase, does it free up?

The front thrust bearing may not be lined up correctly with its locating pin and may be protruding a bit into the gearcase. This would cause friction while in forward gear.

A bent or twisted shift fork can also cause this problem but I assume the replacement was good.  They get damaged from forcing it into gear while the motor isn’t running.

It’s always a good idea to tap the prop shaft forward while tightening the screws as this will move the front thrust bearing forward as far as it will go.

What parts were changed when you did the reseal?  New clutch dog or gears?  Did you check the length of the lower driveshaft to make sure the shock/spring was not stretched?  Perhaps the lower driveshaft is binding on the upper bushing seal housing.  I guess the easiest way to check this out is to loosend all four water pump screws to see if it rotates easily then.

Again, you are saying that it is difficult to rotate the gearcase when in forward gear, but OK in neutral and reverse, correct?  I really can’t think of much that would cause this condition….

Bearing is on the pin. Maybe I’ll try tapping the shaft while tightening the screws.
