      I can’t find the original post but a while back someone was going to swap their FD-10’s  rods out with some others which had the same part number on them but were physically different from the originals.  This old service bulletin from 1960 explains why.

          US MEMBER PAY BY CHECK

          Interesting, lots of engine builders  might disagree.   I know people that weigh every similar component and every moving part for consistency.   For a daily runner those fat rods will probably work just fine.   Mumbles what year did OMC start using a needle bearing in the piston pin on the FD motors?

              In 1957 when the 15 HP motors grew to 18 HP OMC put needle/roller bearings at the rod big and small ends and crankshaft bearings.
